Street Art is Freedom

Who: Art in the Street
What: MOCA at the Geffen
Wear: Expression
Rating: Color + Shape + Texture = Beauty. That's my formula

Shame on me for waiting too the last minute to catch MOCA's most successful exhibit Art In The Streets. I did an intro on the exhibit a while back and let my schedule get the better of me. But luckily, and just in the nick of time, I mozied my way little Tokyo.

Outside the line was ridiculous, inside pure joy! I have so many great pics i won't delay with my on going banter.  Enjoy.

Totally Obsessed, xoxo Love

When first walking in there was a wall dedicated to memorabilia about the statistics, rewards, and legal warnings for graffiti.

When I was a kid getting a fresh box of Crayola's was like Christmas. Seeing this display of spray paint colors and brands took me right back to that happy memory. That crisp smell as soon as you opened the box, just made my imagination run wild. Oh the possibility of color!

The shadowbox display of the inside of a NY subway car (above) and the wallpaper display of exterior graffiti painted subway cars (below) put me in a New York state of mind.

"I Want That Purple Stuff"

Who: Brandon Broussard
What: @PurpleStuffTV/ purplestufftv.com
Wear: A Dream Come True
Rating: Laughter is good for the soul...so L.O.L and save your soul!

Often I receive a post in my twitter timeline that says, "What if Jesus had his own reality show?" From the creative mind of fellow Bison, Brandon Broussard grabbed some well educated, talented, and witty friends, school mates, a sibling, and a few colleague's to create a team of straight nuts! The result, the next era of sketch comedy. That's Hot.

What Saturday Night Live, In Living Color, and The Chapelle Show have done for our past generations and the way we laugh, Purple Stuff TV is doing right now! In its third season, new episodes premiere on you tube, and global grind weekly. The Purple Stuff crew have set a goal to take the web series to television and are determined to do so, while laughing along the way.

Much like those great sketch comedies Purple Stuff TV is poised to be the next step in the evolution of great sketch shows.

"In order to get the success that we dream of and to be on TV we are going to have to outwork everyone else that is out there doing this." - Brandon Broussard

Historic Crenshaw is Getting Upgraded

(my new Avi pic @ilovecollins taken at the BHCPLive)

Who: BHCP
What: Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza Redevelopment Project
Where: Its in the neighborhood
Rating: Live music is always a good time.

Its very cool that the time is being taken to redevelop the historic Crenshaw district. Namely the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza and the now Rave Cinema. I lived up the street from this mall between the ages of 7-16, so my days of roaming the streets and spending a countless amount of hours with friends window shopping happened within the radius of King, Crenshaw, and Stocker.

Of what we can call LA culture this area has given us cruising low riders, movies (Boyz in the Hood and Thin Line Between Love and Hate), The Incense Man, that guy that dances really hard on the corner listening to his head phones... you get the idea. While these aren't the greatest of memories its what's going on over there.

So if the city, the community, or even residents can muster up the backing and support to redevelop its appearance and activities, I'm in. I had a good time at the free concert series BHCPLive. I was able to catch the opening night. The set-up was very inviting and cozy. There were lots of families, a great mix of people in the crowd.

While the interior of the mall is still very much under construction its still open for business.

Totally Obsessed xoxo, Love
